Background and training
I trained in drawing and painting with Yvonne Hindle & Dexter Dalwood, Newcastle 1993-96. In 2003 I received a scholarship to study at the Royal Drawing School (London) on the Drawing Year. During this time I practiced life drawing and studied contemporary and historic drawings and paintings. Having practiced as a full time artist for 11 years, I returned to study with Bob and Roberta Smith (RA) at the Essential School of Painting. I practice as an artist, mentor and tutor in London.

To develop my understanding of painting, I have made a number of transcriptions (copies) of artists work. This has enhanced my understanding of composition, colour and paint application. On the right here you see my transcriptions of Van Eyck, Poussin and Rubens.
The relationship of mindfulness and art has been a deeply enriching investigation for over 32 years and I am glad to have opportunities to share this with others through my artwork, mentoring and teaching practice.
